What is a white-label client portal for MSPs?

A white-label client portal is a secure client login that carries the managed service provider's own name, logo, colours and web address instead of the software vendor's. The MSP's clients see their compliance position, evidence, agreements and reports in one place, and they see it as part of the MSP's service.

What a client sees

Their readiness against the frameworks that matter to them, such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001. The evidence behind each finding. Proposals and contracts waiting for a signature. The monthly report. Nothing belonging to any other client.

Why MSPs use one

Much of an MSP's work is invisible to the client. A portal makes that work visible on a page the client can open whenever they like, rather than in an email thread or a PDF that goes stale. It also turns the monthly report from a document you send into a place the client returns to.

What to look for

  1. Real separation between clients. Ask whether client data is separated in the database itself or only hidden on screen.
  2. Branding that covers the sign-in page, the portal and the reports, not just a logo in one corner.
  3. Readable results whatever brand colours you choose.
  4. Your own web address for the portal.
  5. Visible support access: a client should be able to see when your team looked at their account.
  6. It sits alongside your existing RMM, EDR and PSA rather than asking you to replace them.
