Client portal vs PSA portal: what is the difference?

A PSA (professional services automation) portal typically centres on service delivery: tickets, invoices and sometimes quotes. A compliance client portal centres on the client's security and compliance position: framework readiness, evidence, agreements and reports. They answer different questions, so they sit side by side rather than replace one another.

The question each answers

PSA portal: "What is happening with my support requests, and what do I owe?"

Compliance client portal: "Are we protected, are we meeting the standards we care about, and can you prove it?"

Typical contents

PSA portal: tickets, billing and, in some products, a service catalogue.

Compliance client portal: readiness scores, control status, evidence, proposals and contracts, monthly reports, logged support sessions.

Why it matters

A ticket history shows how responsive you are. A compliance view shows progress. They are different things to show a client.

Using both

Keep the PSA for what it does well. Add a client portal for the compliance and reporting story. Check that the second does not ask you to replace the first. Trigway connects to the tools an MSP already uses and does not replace an RMM, EDR or PSA.

Where Trigway fits

Trigway is a white-label client portal and compliance platform for UK MSPs, pre-launch with early access open. See the product or join early access.
